The Opportunity

The opportunity

Our client, a leading membership body in the professional services sector, seeks a Senior Policy Manager to lead policy engagement across the organisation’s key strategic themes.  Reporting to the Director of Policy, you will work closely with senior colleagues to produce and contribute to high quality policy analysis and outputs, ensuring that the organisation has a pivotal and leading role as the voice of its profession.

Main responsibilities
  • Play a significant role in obtaining and calibrating intelligence relating to UK regulatory and government policy which affects the organisation and its ability to deliver its strategy
  • Lead on the production of strong analysis relating to policy position advice and coordinate its dissemination to members and stakeholders
  • Produce high quality reports, papers and representations relating to policy positions for publication and for use with internal and external stakeholders
  • Build strong partnerships internally to ensure coordination and high-quality stakeholder relationship management
  • Maintain an external network of policy relationships and calibrate engagement to optimise the organisation’s influence.

Key skills and experience required
  • Experience in a relevant environment, such as policy in a government department, business, charity, trade association, firm, Parliament, devolved administration or local authority
  • High level strategic understanding of issues and developments affecting the accountancy profession, such as reform to corporate governance and the audit market, development of corporate reporting, sustainability and ESG assurance, macro-economic trends and technology
  • Demonstrable written, presentational and public speaking communication skills, including an ability to make complex, technical issues accessible and understood to a range of audiences
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to devise, develop, commission, manage and deliver high quality content, thought leadership, policy work and consultation responses
  • Excellent collaborative and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work with partners to create innovative and thought-provoking content in relation to the policy agenda.
