Ellwood Atfield is proud to have partnered with a membership body in the health sector who is looking for a Policy Officer on a permanent basis.

 

The opportunity

As a Policy Officer you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of the organisation’s policy and public affairs strategy – collaborating with subject matter experts to ensure policy recommendations are backed by solid research, whilst optimising the reach of the organisation’s campaigns.

You will also engage with advisory panels to ensure policy positions are reflected in briefings, responses to government, parliamentary consultations and media opportunities. In this role, you will also regularly monitor the external political environment to identify risk and opportunities relating to the health sector.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with colleagues to gather information which supports policy documents including consultation responses, policy position statements, parliamentary briefings and press releases.
  • Monitoring the political environment to identify opportunities for the organisation to expand its sphere of influence.
  • Liaising between the policy and events conference teams to ensure content is based on policy outputs.
  • Supporting in public affairs activities by organising meetings with key external stakeholders.
  • Coordinating with Communications and Marketing colleagues to ensure messaging content (including on the organisation’s website) are in line with current campaign elements and up dating as required.
  • Working with the Policy manager to ensure that systems to support the advisory panels are operating effectively.

Essential Criteria

  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to utilise data to inform results and maximise performance.
  • Ability to deliver projects to tight deadlines against competing priorities.
  • Experience using web content management systems to publish and manage digital content.
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Interest in the health sector and societal issues.
  • Ability to take initiative with a proactive approach to working.
