Ellwood Atfield is proud to have partnered with a membership body in the health sector who is looking for a Policy Manager on a fixed term basis until February 2026.
The Opportunity
In your role as a Policy Manager, you will liaise with subject matter experts to ensure policy recommendations are supported by solid evidence. You will work alongside members of advisory panels to review policy positions whilst supporting members and identifying opportunities to expand the organisation’s level of influence amongst decision-makers within central and local government.
As a Policy Manager, you will also be responsible for ensuring the robustness of the policy design and implementation process –including drafting reports and submissions- to ensure policies meet the needs of professionals and the public. You will also be required to communicate policy positions through media opportunities, content creation and briefings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in determining policy priorities and ensuring strong creation and implementation procedures.
- Drive research aimed at providing a strong evidence base for policy proposals whilst overseeing proactive policy and public affairs projects and campaigns.
- Manage evidence-based policy statements, briefings and reports for internal and external audiences, including members, parliamentarians, civil servants, local government and journalists.
- Monitor legislative, regulatory and policy developments that could impact the membership or the profession.
- Manage and develop responses to consultations, evidence requests and inquiries across a range of issues.
- Manage and produce the analysis and distribution of key statistics and research from internal and external data sources relevant to the organisation’s policy aims.
- Manage and build relationships with key public affairs contacts, parliamentarians, and external stakeholders, whilst supporting on key networks such as the APPG.
Essential Criteria
- Background in working on health-related policy issues.
- Ability to build strategic relationships with stakeholders in local and central government.
- Skilled in communicating complex information to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to build consensus and drive cohesion amongst a large, complex membership group.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and at pace.
