Policy Manager (two positions: Education or Accounting and Tax)

AAT is a leading professional body dedicated to opening up access to finance careers for all. Based in London, they support an inclusive community of accounting professionals with real-world skills to navigate a fast-changing business landscape.

AAT are looking to appoint two Policy Managers, one focused on education, and the other on accounting and tax. You will have the opportunity to shape and influence impactful policies, work collaboratively with industry leaders, and support meaningful change in a fast-changing industry.


The Opportunities


As Policy Manager (Education), you’ll lead the development of evidence-based policies to enhance the UK’s education and skills landscape, influencing access to accountancy qualifications and shaping the future workforce.

As Policy Manager (Accounting and Tax), you’ll focus on simplifying the UK’s tax system, advocating for small businesses, and influencing accounting and taxation policies to drive economic growth.


Main responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of policy strategies aligned with AAT’s goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government departments, MPs, and professional bodies.
  • Represent AAT in policy discussions, consultations, and public forums.
  • Develop research-backed policy recommendations and clear, impactful messaging.
  • Manage high-profile projects and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Develop and manage advocacy campaigns alongside colleagues across the organisation. 
  • Work closely with training providers, employers and other stakeholders to ensure AAT’s policy recommendations are informed by real-world practice and experience.
  • Develop clear messaging around policy issues, ensuring consistent communication across media, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement.

Key skills and experience required

  • Deep understanding of public policy, government processes, and regulatory environments.
  • Proven ability to engage with stakeholders and influence decisions.
  • Strong research, analysis, and communication skills.
  • Relevant experience working in a range of policy areas.
