Ellwood Atfield is delighted to have partnered with the Global Infrastructure Investment Association (GIIA) to recruit for a Policy and Public Affairs Executive.

The GIIA is the membership body for the world’s leading infrastructure investors, helping to accelerate net-zero climate objectives, improve connectivity, enhance social infrastructure, and maintain and improve utilities around the world.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for someone with an interest in helping to unlock investment in new and existing infrastructure in the UK and other markets, accelerating social development and economic growth.

The role is based in London and currently allows a hybrid working arrangement of three days in the office (Tue-Thurs), with other days working from the office or at home. Normal working hours are 09.00-17.00 five days a week.

Following the probationary period of three months and subject to business needs, team members can request to work a compressed 9-day fortnight, allowing every other Friday off.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitoring, researching, and analysing market developments to provide intelligence to the policy and public affairs team

• Supporting in the development of evidence-based policy positions to support GIIA’s advocacy efforts across the UK, EU, and US markets

• Supporting working group leads, arranging meetings with members as required, and maintaining regular contact with them to stay abreast of issues impacting investments

• Developing briefings, policy papers, reports, statements, and consultation responses

• Preparing materials for member events, including roundtable discussions and workshops

• Translating policy into compelling advocacy positions to be deployed in stakeholder engagement activities

• Working with colleagues to prepare written and oral briefings on policy or political issues as required

• Contributing to communications activities as required, including authoring articles and helping to enhance the voice of investors

• Attending industry conferences and networking events

Person specification

• Previous experience in a public affairs, policy, or a related role

• Experience in a membership organisation, or in finance, consultancy, or infrastructure-related sectors

• A demonstrated interest in current or international affairs

• A self-driven approach to work and willingness to learn and personally develop

• Strong verbal and written communication skills
