Lead IAB UK’s policy and public affairs work to be viewed by members as the most effective policy partner on digital advertising.
The opportunity
IAB UK is the not-for-profit trade body for the digital advertising industry with members from some of the biggest companies in the world including Google, Meta, News UK and Microsoft. This is an industry that contributed a total of £129 billion in gross value added (GVA) to the UK economy in 2022 and supported 2 million jobs.
The role
You will be responsible for leading the policy and public affairs department to deliver against the IAB’s objectives to be viewed by members as the most effective policy partner on digital advertising and viewed by government as a trusted expert.
IAB UK is looking for someone who understands and cares about the digital advertising industry and its critical role in the ad-supported internet, with a strong awareness of policy and regulatory issues relating to digital advertising.
Main responsibilities
- Policy development and leadership; lead the development of IAB UK’s policy agenda, ensuring this reflects members’ needs and priorities and industry developments.
- Stakeholder engagement and representation; engage and maintain constructive relationships with key industry, policy and regulatory stakeholders, including government Ministers and departments, regulators, Parliamentarians, industry leaders, other IABs and trade bodies and IAB UK members.
- Communication; plan and manage policy-related communications and activity, working closely with the Marketing and Communications teams.
- Strategic and team leadership; lead, resource and manage a well-established team motivating high performance.
Key skills and experience required
- Extensive experience at a senior level in public policy, government/public affairs, or a similar role, preferably within the digital advertising or media industry.
- Practical knowledge of policy, legislative and political processes in the UK and how to engage with and influence them appropriately.
- Knowledge and experience of designing and influencing regulatory approaches and frameworks, industry standards and good practice.
- Experience of managing and delivering industry-led engagement with Government, policymakers and regulators in the UK.
- A strong awareness and understanding of the challenges facing digital advertising in a policy and regulatory context.
