Certas Energy is the largest distributor of fuel and lubricants in the UK, employing circa 2,200 people and delivering over four billion litres of fuel to customers every year. It operates independently as a subsidiary of DCC Plc.
The Opportunity
The Corporate and Public Affairs Manager will focus on identifying business opportunities and risks, specifically those arising from legislation and government policy, and advise leaders across the business. Reporting to the Certas Energy’s Legal and Compliance Director this position will perform a crucial role in securing a policy and regulatory path to help the business reach its objectives.
Main Responsibilities
- Monitor, advise and inform business leaders on the political issues affecting the policy, legislative, and regulatory landscape in the fuels distribution and energy industry.
- Collaborate with industry associations, external agencies, and forums to engage stakeholders for policy and regulatory changes to support the business strategy.
- Act as an ambassador, spokesperson and influencer while working successfully in a fast-paced commercial environment.
Key Skills and Experience Required
- Public affairs experience, with detailed knowledge of UK political institutions and a thorough understanding of policy development and the legislative process.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, networking, and influencing skills with experience of developing and delivering successful stakeholder engagement plans, as well as working across all organisational levels including with senior management.
- Outstanding standard of writing, and ability to translate complex concepts into simple terms.
