The Opportunity

The Organisation
The Association of Investment Companies (AIC) is the trade body for the closed-ended investment company sector, which incorporates investment trusts and venture capital trusts (VCTs). Their aim is to represent the interests of the investment company industry, help their members deliver better returns and add value for their investors. They do this through government lobbying and communications, by providing technical advice and guidance, and offering education, training and statistics to advisers and investors.
The Opportunity
As Communications Executive you will contribute to the organisation’s public relations and marketing activities. You will lead communications with journalists, financial advisers, wealth managers and the investment company industry to enhance AIC’s reputation.
Main responsibilities
- Establish and maintain good relationships with other key audiences e.g. members, investment company analysts, fund management groups and financial advisers
- Organise press events, including round table lunches and press training sessions
- Commission videos and liaise with the AIC’s video agencies
- Take ownership of marketing forum: organising events, inviting members, setting agendas and taking minutes
- Lead the development and implementation of communication projects aligned with AIC’s goals.
Key skills and experience required
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills
- Experience or interest in the financial services or investment sector
- An understanding of investment companies as well as rival products, an understanding of the fund management industry, the savings market and investments generally
- Ambitious, collaborative, open-minded and dynamic.
